The warehouse of a steel pipe manufacturer company, Jalan Raya Rungkut Industri, Rungkut District, Surabaya, burned down, on Sunday (9/6/2024) morning.

It is suspected that the burning of 2 warehouses where the electric pole was painted, due to the spark of the grinder that hit thinner.

This fire occurred in warehouse 7 where electricity poles are painted, PT Steel Pipe Industry of Indonesia (SPRINDO), around 10.40 wib.

“The initial report was around 10.40 wib, after that we deployed 4 nearby combat units, from rayon 3 Rungkut and kali rungkut to the location,” said Wasis Sutikno, head of the Surabaya DPKP Fire Department.

Wasis said from witness statements, security officers, the first fire emerged from warehouse 7 where the painting of electric poles, then spread to Warehouse 8.

“The beginning of the burning of warehouse 7 which covers an area of 100 x 60 meters where electricity poles are painted, then spread to Warehouse 8,” he said

Furthermore, Wasis said the cause of the fire is still unknown, but from the information of the workers the cause of the fire, due to a grinding spark during the process of cutting electricity poles in warehouse 7.
